We've been home now for a little over two weeks. Mitchell continues to recover well. We met with a cardiologist on thursday this week, and she was happy with how things looked. We've seen our pediatrician (Dr. T) twice since we've been home, and we'll continue to see him every week until we are at least done with the antibiotics on or around June 28th. On Mitch's first visit to Dr. T, he was in the 75th percentile for height and 25th for weight. Since then, Mitch has been putting on almost a pound a week due to fortified breastmilk. Now that he is doing well with weight gain, he's off the high calorie diet. Bittersweet, since the fortified milk at night guaranteed a few more hours of sleep.
Other than getting little sleep like every other new parent, getting back to life in general has been going well, Jon is back to work, and we've been able to go to our church regularly again. Bethany spends her time taking care of Mitchell. And we got our dog, Rigs, back. Rigs hasn't been too interested in Mitch yet, but sleeps by his crib every night. And a lot of friends here have been asking for a blog update, so here you go. We have been amazed by how many people have tuned in, and we are grateful for so many that love and care for us. I sent a comment this morning, but must have hit the wrong identity. Thrilled with the update and photo of you all. Must admit, we have been checking a lot of days. Mitchell is doing so well. All your New Zealand mates have also been wondering how it is all going now you are home. Thanks for the update. Winter has arrived with some heavy frost. Mitchell is so adorable! What a blessing. We are so happy that things are going so well and you all will continue to be in our thoughts. Someday hopefully we can get the newest McAvoy cousins together! We love looking at the blog, especially the pictures. He has made an amazing progress. We will continue to tune in!
